I like Dr. Z as he has several videos on fasting and they are succinct in their coverage of different types of fasting including Intermittent Fasting.

The following:

Have set out these youtube references, simply because it is useful to have such a shorthand and non-verbose authority, with references, all in one place!

Instead of grinding through an hour of youtube videos, this man keeps the target close to ten minutes or so!

My opinion:
The key result of intermittent fasting is the conditioning of the human body to the actual metabolism of ketosis,
Remarkably, an extremely tiny percentage of our population ever experience this perfectly natural DNA phenomena, their whole lives!
Whether we can really ‘short cut’ the actual need for the ‘fast’ is I think unlikely. It could be though that Shark Tank brand ‘secret formula’ salts and other potential catalysts may be of some assistance.
It was with wry amusement that I notice the Shark Tank investors buy into the concept! Observation is some of them need the assist! as does our world!
The combination of actual reality intermittent fasting AND some of these additives? That no doubt contain nominal calories, is a possible marriage and symbiotic!
Anyway, keep an eye on there, the Shark Tank people!…weight loss soon!?

But nevertheless, we have to try to hit all the buttons. It is one thing to accomplish the discipline of intermittent fasting! Even up to say eighteen hours or more, but optimize wherever possible!

We should try to select the right foods to eat:
Also the right percentages of fats, proteins and carbs! I like the Dr. Oz program right on point!
Stephanie Person looks at least ten years or so younger than her 51 years. She makes the point of a diet with a high percentage of good fats. We approvingly discuss that elsewhere on this Website!
But the dialogue BEFORE that interview, now my commentary on the summary exclusions! Personally feel the more variety and colours of fruits and vegetables the better.
This includes some carrots. Also, tomatoes, I do not subscribe to the seemingly paranoid lectin theory!
AND a great believer in an ‘Apple a day keeps the doctor away’!
But I agree with trying to exclude the normal white flour pastas and breads.
Always trend to whole grains, sourdoughs, and there are great healthy pasta substitutes!

The ultimate is to get one’s fats right! Also to avoid the breakdown of the fats we use to cook into unhealthy fats!

Personally, I like the range of Olive, Avocado and Coconut Oils! Coconut more stable at higher temperatures. Really high heats need stable fats, and butter is pretty good! But of course, it is dairy!

But a couple of serious observations:
1) Throughout the Dr. Z youtube series and even on to Dr. Oz…
no mention of Stem Cell revitalization, particularly for older people…by that I mean as low as 35 years!
So massively important for not only a quantum leap in Longevity, but Health!
2) I believe we should at least once a week, pull back from say 18 hours consistent intermittent fasting to about 13 hours…reboots our systems, and with other protections…example gall stones! Walter Longo has a good point here!
